Saint Agnes hosts children’s art camp

Footsteps at Saint Agnes Medical Center is hosting a free arts program for children and teens dealing with difficult losses such as death, divorce, separation or abandonment.

Camp Sunshine will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 27 inside the hospital’s north wing Shehadey Pavilion at 1303 E. Herdnon Ave. It is open for children from 5 to 18 years.

Children and teens will have special art instruction led by local art studio instructors from “The Artist in Me.” They also will have time to reflect in the outdoor labyrinth and meditation garden, play water balloon games, make and sail handmade boats and interact with four-legged friends from Saint Agnes Heavenly Hounds, a pet therapy program.

There also will be a grief support group for parents and caregivers, and a healthy breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Registration is due by June 13. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. Space is limited. For information contact Saint Agnes at (559) 450-5608 or visit www.samc.com/footsteps.

Footsteps also hosts a six-week expressive arts curriculum for children and parents dealing with difficult losses. Those classes begin Aug. 13 and are held Thursday evenings from 5:30-6:20 p.m. at Saint Agnes Home Health and Hospice, 6729 N. Willow Ave, Suite 103. Families can register by contacting Maria Berber at (559) 450-5608.
