Central Valley Honor Flight veterans return to Fresno and get heroes' welcome

Over 60 veterans who took part in the latest Central Valley Honor Flight returned home Wednesday night to a heroes' welcome at Fresno Yosemite International Airport.

Veterans on the trip ranged in age from 76 to 94-year-old Joe Soldo of Clovis, the only World War II veteran to take part this week. Soldo served in the 78th Infantry Division during the Battle of the Bulge and was later captured by the Germans and kept as a prisoner of war.

The group left Fresno on Monday for Washington, D.C. On Tuesday, they toured the World War II, Korean and Vietnam War memorials, as well as the Navy and Marine memorials. They also got to drive by the White House.

On Wednesday they visited Arlington National Cemetery, Women's Military Museum and Air Force Memorial before flying back to Fresno.
