Fresno’s Kearney Park will be closed throughout February while hazardous trees are being removed.

Located on West Kearney Boulevard, the park was temporarily closed to the public beginning Wednesday as crews begin work to trim and remove more than 100 hazardous trees, according to a news release from Jordan Scott, public information officer for the Fresno County Administrative Office.

A notice announcing the closure has been posted at the park entrance. It is anticipated that the park will reopen by Feb. 28, although the date is subject to change.

“The work is part of the county’s ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and address high tree mortality resulting from the extended period of severe drought,” Scott said in the release.
