A man died Tuesday night after crashing his car northeast of Clovis, the California Highway Patrol said.

The man was identified as Mark Stites, 56, of Clovis, the Fresno County Coroner’s Office said Wednesday.

About 8 p.m., Stites was driving north on Madsen Avenue near Nees Avenue when he drove west into a fence in the front yard of a home.

Stites was pronounced dead at the scene, and it is believed that alcohol was involved in the crash.
