A dusting of snow now graces landmarks in Yosemite Valley like Half Dome.

The Yosemite Conservancy webcams show snow atop the granite monolith. The snow fell Wednesday morning, the result of a fast-moving storm that will also bring cold temperatures to Central California Wednesday and Thursday nights.

A hard-freeze warning has been issued by the National Weather Service from 2 to 8 a.m. Thursday, and then 1 to 8 a.m. Friday. Temperatures across the Valley floor will fall into the around 28 degrees and stay there for hours each morning, the NWS said.

Such a freeze can damage sensitive plants and harm pets left outdoors. Plants should be covered and pets brought inside.

Thursday marks the start of winter, and the high will be around 53 degrees in Fresno. The weather will be sunny through Christmas Day, when the high will warm to 63 degrees. Highs over the holiday weekend will be in the 30s.
