Fresno firefighters continue fight against Thomas Fire, one of state’s largest
About 26 Fresno firefighters continue to battle the Thomas Fire in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties as the roaring blaze continues to threaten the South Coast.
Fresno Fire Department spokesman Hector Vasquez said the firefighters will probably remain on the assignment for 14 to 21 days.
Fresno Battalion Chief Brian Price, who is part of the contingent, was featured on a video posted by the Santa Barbara Independent this week, when he sought to assure a large meeting of concerned citizens.
“Even though my patch says ‘Fresno Fire Department,’ until this thing is over, we’re your fire department,” said Price.
