A fire started at a Visalia cafe. Firefighters say equipment failure to blame

A fire at a cafe in Visalia caused major damage after it erupted early Sunday morning, the Visalia Fire Department said.

Firefighters arrived to the Livestock Cafe at 733 N. Ben Maddox Way just before 1 a.m. to find smoke and fire coming from the roof.

After forcing their way into the building, firefighters found the fire in the kitchen. It was put out in about 10 minutes, but damage is estimated at $40,000, the fire department said.

It appears the fire was accidental, and caused by equipment failure in the kitchen.

No one was in the cafe at the time and there were no injuries.
