You may not think of Kettleman City or Baker as being much of a hot spot. But if you are a Tesla driver, it’s going to feel like an oasis.

Amid last-chance gas stations and fast-food joints, Tesla recently unveiled two of the largest U.S. supercharging stations in the California traveling towns of Kettleman City (at the junction of Highway 41 and Interstate 5) and Baker (in the Mojave Desert alongside Interstate 15).

In Kettleman City, the 40-stall, high-powered station at 33360 Powers Dr. is like a well-appointed truck stop for Tesla drivers.

The station comes equipped with a private lounge, food services and an area for families. There’s also a small apparel and accessories section, a kid’s play wall and pet relief area, according to the website www.Teslarati.com.

The charging stations are strategically placed at halfway points on popular travel routes, connecting Los Angeles and San Francisco and Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

And don’t worry about the station not being open overnight. The lounge and station is accessible 24 hours a day. Tesla drivers get an access code delivered to their car’s touch screen. No asking for the bathroom key at this place.
