Overnight storm brings nearly a quarter-inch of rain to Fresno, snow to high country
Overnight showers in the central San Joaquin Valley tapered off early Friday morning, turning to breezy conditions before becoming a spectacular fall day.
The National Weather Service reported that Fresno recorded 0.21 inches of rain. Merced recorded 0.64 and Madera 0.12.
In the Sierra Nevada, a winter storm warning was in effect. Six inches to a foot of snow fell overnight. In Yosemite National Park, El Portal Road was closed because of debris flows and Tioga Road was shut down temporarily.
Drier conditions are forecast for the weekend, but another front is expected to move into the area by Monday.
