Dinuba man dies from injuries suffered when SUV plows into back of big rig
A man suffered fatal injuries Wednesday morning after the SUV he was riding in crashed into the back of a big rig on a Tulare County road, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash occurred just after 8 a.m. on Road 80 south of Avenue 384.
According to the CHP, Steven Alvarado Jr., 22, of Dinuba was driving a 1997 GMC sport-utility vehicle northbound when for an unknown reason he plowed into the back of the box trailer hitched to a 1998 Freightliner driven by a Dinuba man. Alvarado’s passenger, a 24-year-old Dinuba man, was thrown from the SUV and was pronounced dead en route to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia. The CHP said the passenger wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.
Alvarado suffered minor injuries. The CHP said neiter alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the crash.
