At 80, it’s time to celebrate Fresno Chandler Executive Airport’s historic flagpole
In honor of the Fresno Chandler Executive Airport flagpole’s 80th anniversary, a sunrise flag-raising and rededication will be on Monday.
The event starts at 7 a.m. at the airport at 510 W. Kearney Blvd. It will feature an honor guard and flag presentation to the Veterans Home of California, followed by reception in the airport terminal lobby.
The flagpole was dedicated by the American Legion Fresno Post No. 4 on Oct. 30, 1937. It the original dedication plaque have been refurbished as a historic fixture of the 1930s Chandler Executive Airport facility.
Among those scheduled to attend are U.S. Rep. Jim Costa, D-Fresno; Fresno District 3 City Councilmember Oliver Baines; Assistant Director of Aviation Daniel Weber, City of Fresno Department of Airports; U.S. Army, Recruiting Company-Fresno; and Staff Sgt. Gilbert Juarez, Civil Affairs, U.S. Army Reserve
