A baby deer that had fallen into an Oakhurst pool was near death when a Madera County sheriff’s deputy and California Highway Patrol officer arrived on the scene, according to a Facebook post by the sheriff’s office.

It’s not clear how long the fawn was in the pool, but it was able to walk away on its own soon after the rescue.
