That black plume of smoke you saw in Clovis was an attic fire – in neighboring homes
A residential fire in Clovis got into two homes and sent a large plume of black smoke into the air Monday afternoon.
The fire in the 1700 block of Celeste Avenue near Fowler Avenue was called in at 3:21 p.m.
Fire Chief John Binaski said the fire started on the outside of one home and spread to a neighboring home. Firefighters got it under control but not before it had spread into the attics of both homes, he said.

Although under control, firefighters were removing possessions from a full garage to make sure it had not spread and could erupt again.
It appears the fire started in a pile of debris. Firefighter put foam on it and will dig through the debris to try to find out how it started, Binaski said.
