Man dies in Coalinga car crash
A man is dead after being thrown from his car in a Saturday afternoon crash in Coalinga, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The car driven by Edwin Cruz, 29, of Coalinga was the only one involved in the incident about 3:05 p.m.
Cruz was driving south on Highway 33, north of Highway 198, the Highway Patrol stated, when he had difficulty handling a left curve and the car drifted to the west side of the road.
The car went out of control, heading back to the east side of the road before flipping several times. Cruz, who did not appear to have been wearing a seat belt, according to the CHP, was ejected from the vehicle.
Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene.
