Five people in east-central Fresno were displaced Tuesday night after a fire caused significant damage to the home.

Firefighters were called to a house fire on Fowler Avenue just south of Clinton Avenue around 8 p.m. were a fire was causing major damage to the attic and spreading through the roof of the home.

Firefighters were able to take control of the flames in 20 minutes and made sure that the residents were all evacuated from the home, said Fresno Fire Battalion Chief Randy Reitz.

Fowler Avenue was blocked off from traffic as crews fought the blaze.

No injuries were reported, but the family in the home was displaced due to smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
