One dead after truck crashes into canal

Rescue crews have brought up the body of a man who died after crashing his car into a canal near Orange Cove on Friday night, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The man was speeding south on Cove Road when he lost control of his pickup near Central Avenue and landed in the canal around 8:30 p.m., Officer James Del Carlo said. A passing motorist witnessed the crash and called 911, reporting that someone was still inside the pickup.

Rescue crews recovered the man’s body. They do not believe anyone else was in the pickup, but are still investigating, Del Carlo said.
