Tulare Regional Medical Center could close its emergency department and stop performing surgeries and delivering babies.

The Visalia Times-Delta reported Friday that the Tulare hospital is barely open following reports this week that there wasn’t enough money to make payroll.

Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia has been accepting patients from Tulare, the Times-Delta reported.

Kaweah Delta CEO Gary Herbst told the newspaper that the additional patients from Tulare have stressed Kaweah Delta’s system.
