Selma teenager killed in shooting. Police looking for suspects.
A 16-year-old Selma girl was fatally shot Thursday night by an unknown suspect as she stood outside of a home where about a dozen people were gathered, said Selma police Chief Greg Garner.
Garner said the shooting happened about 9:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Mill Street. He said the girl was standing in front of the home when a mid-sized SUV drove up and someone got out and fired several shots from a small-caliber handgun. Witnesses told police the vehicle then sped away.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center where she died a short time later, Garner said.
Garner said the teenager was visiting friends at the residence and had no history of being involved with the police.
This is Selma’s first homicide of the year.
