Police seek hit-and-run driver in crash that left pedestrian in critical condition

A man was in critical condition Sunday night after he was hit by a sport utility vehicle in central Fresno.

The victim, a Hispanic man approximately 20 years old, was crossing Blackstone Avenue near Griffith Way on foot when he was hit by the SUV around 9 p.m.

The driver fled south on Blackstone and then west on Saginaw Avenue, said Fresno police Lt. Steve Card.

The driver was in a red or orange Chevrolet Avalanche, Card said.

The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

The accident remains under investigation.
