Driver who hit another car on Highway 99 is thrown to the road and run over by that car
A man who turned his car into the path of another traveling south on Highway 99 in downtown Fresno early Sunday was thrown from his car and run over by the car he hit, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Both men suffered major injuries in the crash on Highway 99 between Ventura Street and Highway 41 just before 3 a.m.
According to CHP, Rudy Soliz from Fresno in a 2005 Honda and an unidentified man was in a 1998 Chevrolet were both traveling south on Highway 99 in separate lanes when the Chevrolet driver drove into the path of Soliz’s car.
Soliz was unable to avoid the collision. The Chevrolet’s driver was not wearing his seat belt and was thrown from the car and run over by Soliz’s vehicle. The collision blocked two lanes of Highway 99 for a time.
The drivers were taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision.
