One dead in power pole crash on outskirts of Visalia

California Highway Patrol officers were investigating a fatal crash Sunday morning on the outskirts Visalia.

According to CHP, at least one person died when their vehicle crashed into a power pole on Santa Fe Street south of East Caldwell Avenue just before 10 a.m. Power lines were down on the east side of the road.

Santa Fe Street was closed from Caldwell Avenue to Avenue 272 for the CHP investigation. The CHP’s dispatch log indicated that the crash ignited a fire. Southern California Edison was called out to repair the power pole.

No other details were available Sunday morning.
