Big load: 35,000 gallon water tank driven through Fresno roadways

A 35,000 gallon water tank was carefully moved through the streets of Fresno Tuesday to the site where the Fresno Aquarium project is to be built.

The big vessel left Central Valley Tank at McKinley and Maple avenues around 7 a.m. and headed to northwest Fresno to the aquarium property. There a crane lifted it onto a concrete base.

The tank will hold water that can be used should a fire break out at the site.

The aquarium is proposed to be built near the “Welcome to Fresno County” entrance off Highway 99. The aquarium’s “From the Ground Up” campaign has raised $280,000 for the proposed aquaculture building, which is where the fish and other aquatic life will be raised that will go into the aquarium.
