Coalinga-area fire, after destroying home, continues to grow
Flames that a day earlier destroyed a home and spread into brush north of Coalinga grew to nearly 400 acres Saturday, Fresno County Fire officials said.
The fire was reported at 4 p.m. Friday and by 5:30 p.m. had spread to 60 acres of grass near Los Gatos and Derrick roads, Fresno County Fire Capt. Jeremiah Wittwer said.
On Saturday, containment was at 40 percent.
