Old Town Clovis businesses hit by power outage
Nearly 50 businesses and homes in Old Town Clovis endured an hour without power amid another hot day after a transformer failure.
The outage began about 6:45 p.m. Friday in the neighborhood occupied by popular restaurants, bars, antique stores and other retailers.
Forty-nine customers in all were impacted, according to Pacific Gas & Electric Co., and about a half-dozen of the company’s trucks arrived on the scene.
Some good news on a day when highs in the Clovis-Fresno area ranged from 104 to 106: PG&E reported that the restoration process was completed in about an hour.
The utility continues to investigate what made the transformer malfunction.
Outages can be reported or monitored for updates via the PG&E website.
