One person was found dead Saturday following what the California Highway Patrol said was a solo vehicle accident in Fresno County.

Officer Justin Montooth said the CHP responded to the accident at Colusa and Eldorado streets, southwest of Fresno, for reports of two people trapped in a vehicle. The driver of a black Honda was already dead when first responders arrived, he said.

The passenger was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, and the condition was unknown later Saturday morning. The identities of the driver and passenger are still not confirmed.

Montooth said it’s still not clear what led to the accident, which was first reported to the CHP around 5:30 a.m. Further details were not immediately available Saturday morning.
