Fire in duplex puts eight people on the street in Fresno
A fire at a duplex in central Fresno has put eight people out of a place to live, the Fresno Fire Department said Tuesday.
The fire broke out about 10:50 a.m. in the duplex in the 1100 block of East Lansing Way. Nineteen firefighters responded and put out the fire in about 20 minutes, fire department spokesman Hector Vasquez said.
Four people were evaluated for injuries and two were treated at the scene by an ambulance crew.

Eight people, four in each unit, were displaced and are being helped by the American Red Cross of Central California.
The fire got into the attic and caused an estimated $50,000 in damage.
The cause is under investigation but appears to have started in a kitchen. Pacific Gas and Electric Co. has cut off gas and electricity to the units.
