CHP reports fatal head-on collision on northbound 99 in Merced

Northbound 99 in Merced County is shut down Wednesday morning following a head-on crash with fatalities, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The collision occurred about 7:30 a.m. just south of Mission Avenue, where it was reported that a southbound vehicle crossed over into northbound lanes. The vehicles involved were a Ford Explorer and a Chevrolet pickup.
