Chico man killed in Interstate 5 rollover wasn’t wearing seat belt
A 37-year-old Chico man killed in a rollover crash Dec. 16 on Interstate 5 northeast of Coalinga wasn’t wearing a seat belt, the California Highway Patrol said Monday.
The CHP identified the dead man as Brian Jerome Parham. He was a passenger in a Kia Spectra driven by Cyrenthia Ann Sanders, 23, also of Chico. They were northbound on I-5 in Fresno County about 5:10 a.m. when the Spectra veered into the median, then back across the highway and rolled down an embankment landing on its roof.
The CHP said Parham died at the scene. Sanders, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia. The crash remains under investigation but it was determined that neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor.
