Almond hull pile catches fire east of Fresno

A pile of almond hulls caught fire east of Fresno on Friday, Cal Fire spokesman Jeremiah Wittwer said.

Wittwer said he is not sure about the size of the pile, but extra firefighters were dispatched to the location to put out the flames.

The fire was reported around 2:30 p.m. at McKinley and Del Rey avenues, Wittwer said.

Crews were using heavy equipment to control the blaze.
