Woman found dead in Corcoran house fire
A woman in her 30s was discovered dead in a house fire in Corcoran, authorities said.
The fire broke out in a home at 2100 block of Dairy Avenue at 4:38 p.m. Sunday, said Rick Smith, assistant chief of the Kings County Fire Department.
When firefighters from the county and Corcoran State Prison arrived, they found flames in a bedroom and the attic.
“While searching the dwelling, firefighters discovered the body of a female victim deceased in the bathroom,” Smith said in a news release.
Smith said there were no suspicious circumstances involving the death of the woman, and the fire’s probable cause was accidental. The house was empty and boarded up, and it was not known if the woman lived in the residence.
She was not identified by Smith. Rather, he said the county coroner would release the identification once relatives were notified of her death.
