Tioga Middle School student brings knife on campus

Fresno police arrested a seventh-grade girl at Tioga Middle School for bringing a knife on campus Monday morning.

Police cited the young girl and turned her over to her parents.

Staff members at the central Fresno school said they saw the knife when the student moved it from her backpack to her pocket, said Lt. Joe Gomez.

Investigators said the student walks to school and told them she carries the knife to make her feel safe.
