Free health fair to offer flu shots, assessments
A health fair hosted by California Health Sciences University will offer free flu shots, health assessments and screenings to the public at Clovis Pharmacy School on Oct 1, announced spokesperson Richele Kleiser.
Licensed health care providers will provide free screenings for asthma, vision, heart failure, high blood pressure and diabetes.
The second annual fair will also provide “brown bag” medication assessments. Prescribed and store-bought medications can be brought from home to learn about side effects and proper use. There will also be a safe disposal site for old or unused medications.
The first 300 qualified people can get a free flu shot from Walgreens.
There will be inflatable slides, games and healthy snacks for children, Kleiser said. Community Food Bank will be distributing food.
Over 150 volunteers who speak dozens of languages will be available on site during the fair. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. and the fair runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The California Health Sciences University campus is located at 120 N. Clovis Ave. in Clovis.
