Vegetation fire forces evacuations of five homes
Fresno County fire crews were battling a 5-acre vegetation fire east of Sanger on Friday afternoon.
Five homes in the area of Fantz and Newmark avenues had been evacuated, said Matt Dunham, battalion chief with Cal Fire-Fresno County Fire Protection District. No structures had burned.
The fire, which was reported at 1:16 p.m., was burning in a wooded area near a tributary of the Kings River, Dunham said.
Fourteen engines, one bulldozer and three divisions were fighting the fire.
