11th Central Valley Honor Flight departs for D.C.
The 11th Central Valley Honor Flight departed from Fresno on Monday morning for a three-day round trip to Washington, D.C.
Organizers say there are 64 veterans (including two women) from 24 hometowns spanning nine San Joaquin Valley counties. Thirty-three are from Fresno County.
The highlight of each trip is the Tuesday tour of D.C. monuments – the World War II Memorial, Navy Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial and Korean War Memorial. Tuesday’s lunch is at the Smithsonian.
Before departure Wednesday, the group visits Arlington National Cemetery, the Women’s Military Museum and the Air Force Memorial.
The group returns to Fresno Yosemite International Airport at approximately 6 p.m. – but well-wishers are reminded that the time is variable dependant on a variety of travel conditions.
