Man dies in Highway 63 crash near Orosi

A 26-year-old man was killed near Orosi early Sunday when his car collided with a tree and he was thrown from the vehicle.

The California Highway Patrol said the man, whose identity was not released, was driving north on Highway 63 north of Avenue 424 about 2:30 a.m. when for unknown reasons the car traveled off the east side of the roadway and hit a tree.

The driver died at the scene.

It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash, the CHP said.
