A Fresno County Jail inmate died two hours after being booked into jail Thursday, the Fresno County Coroner’s Office said Friday.

Andrew Steven Zavala, 24, had been booked and placed into a cell just after 7 p.m. for a probation violation when he told an officer he wasn’t feeling well, the Coroner’s Office said.

After his vital signs were checked by a nurse, he was transported to Community Regional Medical Center where he died just after 9 p.m.
