Fresno County adds 101 cases of COVID-19 in midweek update. Here are the latest numbers

Fresno County reported 101 new coronavirus infections on Wednesday, bringing the county closer to nearly 28,000 cases.

The total number of COVID-19 infections since March stands at 27,944. Seven people were released from the hospital, leaving 82, according to the county health department.

Fresno County has started approaching infection rates that could move the county into a new economic recovery phase after the virus caused shutdowns. To move up into the next tier, counties must have fewer than seven new cases per day per 100,000 people and have a testing positivity rate of 8% per 100,000 people.

Officials are eagerly awaiting a change in the local data.
