Fresno County adds more than 200 COVID-19 cases. How many infections does it have now?
The California Department of Public Health on Thursday reported that Fresno County had an increase of 243 cases for a total of 25,785 infections since the pandemic’s onset in March.
The number of deaths in the county related to COVID-19 remained at 290. The county updates death totals on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Across the state, there were 5,125 new confirmed cases Wednesday, according to the state’s Thursday data. That number pushed the statewide total to 717,177 infections to date. The numbers may not accurately represent the day-over-day changes as documenting test results can be delayed, according to the state.
To date, there’s been a total of 13,327 COVID-19 deaths statewide since the pandemic began, according to the state.
Thus far, the deadliest month in Fresno County during the pandemic has been August, claiming 152 lives. The number of deaths if August is higher than the number of fatalities in the past five months combined.
Other Central California counties
As of Thursday, Tulare County had recorded an additional 110 confirmed cases, bringing its total to 14,552 infections. The county also added three more deaths for a total of 243 to date, according to its data.
Merced County reported 80 new cases to bring the total to 8,202 and one additional death. The number of deaths now stands at 120.
Madera County reported two new deaths to bring the tally to 57. The county also said 13 new cases were reported to bring the tally to 3,889.
As of Thursday morning, Mariposa County had not reported any change. The county has recorded 73 positive cases, and two deaths.
As of Thursday morning, Kings County numbers didn’t reflect any changes. The county had recorded a total of 6,385 cases, and 75 deaths.
