Fresno County’s coronavirus totals are pushing toward 16,000. Here are the new numbers
Fresno County reported close to 700 new cases of the coronavirus since Saturday, according to the latest figures released Monday.
The figures reported by the California Department of Public Health. bring the county to a total number of infection of 15,759. There are 138 people hospitalized.
The numbers in Fresno County have remained in a stubborn upward trend as officials continue to urge the public to take better measures to stop or slow the spread of COVID-19.
An action plan is now being developed among Fresno County officials and state level agencies wrestling with the rising infections. It’s part of the governor’s concern that the Central Valley has become a hot spot.
Other counties in the Valley
Tulare County experienced 11 new deaths related to the coronavirus since Friday, according to an update Monday. Over the weekend, it recorded 291 new positive cases. It now has 9,745 cases confirmed since the pandemic began.
Madera County reported it reached 2,075 positive cases over the weekend. Since Friday, it added 132 cases and two more people have died from the virus.
Kings County reported late Sunday that it added 73 cases in its latest totals released Sunday night. The county now has 4,453 cases since the outbreak began.
Merced County reported no new deaths, but did add 137 to its positive infection total. The county now has 4,422 cases of the virus.
