Another person in Fresno County dies after testing positive for COVID-19. Death rate at 1%
Another person in Fresno County suffered a coronavirus-related death all while the COVID-19 count continued to rise.
The Fresno County Department of Public Health reported the 88th death stemming from COVID-19, along with 376 new confirmed cases Saturday.
No other information about the latest fatality, including the person’s age or whether there were any underlying conditions, was immediately available.
Nonetheless, Fresno County’s total grew to 8,282 positive tests since the pandemic began back in early March.
In that time, Fresno County also has hospitalized 455 patients at some point during their infection for a 5.4% hospitalization rate. And 1,871 people have recovered for a 22.6% recovery rate (that rate does not include those who contracted COVID-19 but never were tested and went on to recover).
Fresno County’s current death rate for COVID-19 is 1%.
In all, Fresno County has had a 10.1% positivity rate among 81,855 tests administered.
There are 6,323 cases still active, meaning 76.3% of those who tested positive still are battling the virus.
In Kings County, 20 new cases were confirmed Saturday to bring the total to 1,626.
Kings County has had 13 coronavirus-related deaths since the pandemic started.
Of the cases, 826 remain active. And there have been 787 recoveries, including one reported Saturday.
