Kings County offers free COVID-19 tests to residents, including uninsured and undocumented
Kings County on Monday will start offering free COVID-19 testing to all county residents, including the uninsured and undocumented immigrants.
In a Sunday news release, the Kings County Department of Public Health announced it will begin a rotating scheduled to offer the free testing throughout the county.
“Testing is available for all individuals, including those who are uninsured or undocumented, and testing results are confidential,” according to the release.
Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins will be accepted, depending on the number of scheduled appointments and no-shows.
A schedule of the rotation, which begins Monday, will be available on the county’s website. A call center will assist people with referrals and with help registering, according to the release. Assistance will be available in Spanish.
People can also get tested for COVID-19 through their primary care provider.
Kings County officials urge residents to continue to stay home as much as possible, wash hands often for 20 seconds, practice social distancing and wear a mask, according to the release.
Sunday night, Kings County reported eight new coronavirus cases for a total of 620 in the general population; 358 patients had recovered and six had died. In addition, there were 38 more cases in Kings County state correctional facilities in Avenal and Corcoran with a new total of 918.
The Kings County Department of Public Health’s call center number is 559-852-4300. Staffers are available Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
