Fresno County adds 29 cases to coronavirus count; Kings reports another death
Fresno County reported 29 additional cases of the novel coronavirus on Saturday, inching the local count to nearly 1,800.
Kings County, in a Saturday night update, reported one more person had died of COVID-19-related complications, raising the death toll in the six-county central San Joaquin Valley region to 133.
No new deaths were posted in Fresno County, after three were reported Friday, but the total cases in the county climbed to 1,743 with 35 dead, according to the county Department of Public Health.
There have been 542 people who have recovered; 204 people have required hospitalization at some point during their battle with COVID-19.
Tulare County has the highest case count in the six-county central San Joaquin Valley region. It no longer updates its totals on weekends and holidays, leaving it at 1,844 total cases through Friday, with 912 recovered and 84 deaths.
Madera County updated with no changes to its totals of 104 cases with 73 recovered and two deaths.
Kings County, in addition to the one death that raises the toll there to four, reported 11 more positive results to increase its total case count to 746, with 294 recovered. There have been 500 cases in the county at large, plus 246 in state-operated correctional facilities.
Mariposa and Merced counties had yet to post updates Saturday. Totals there through Friday:
Mariposa: 16 cases, 14 recovered, one death.
Merced: 283 cases, 190 recovered, seven deaths.
