New coronavirus deaths in Fresno and Tulare counties reported Wednesday
Fresno County reported three additional COVID-19 deaths and 51 new positive cases on Wednesday.
Two men, one in his 50s and one in his 70s, and a woman in her 60s died, the county announced. In total, 20 people countywide have died from the coronavirus.
The city of Fresno saw the biggest jump in cases, with 25 new cases reported Wednesday. Other communities across the county saw new positive case numbers around five or fewer. In total, Fresno County has 1,338 cases; the city of Fresno has nearly half (629) followed by Selma (129), Sanger (107), Reedley (83) and Clovis (63).
The county reported that 416 people have recovered from coronavirus illness.
Madera County reported two additional cases Wednesday, bringing the total number to 82. A previously reported positive case turned out to be a false positive and has been removed from the total.
Tulare County has led the San Joaquin Valley with the highest number of coronavirus deaths. Two more deaths and 13 additional positive cases were reported Wednesday, bringing the total number of cases up to 1,552 and total deaths to 73, with most of them being patients from nursing home facilities. The county has reported 476 recoveries.
Kings County reported 279 cases on Wednesday. So far, two people in Kings County have died from the coronavirus and 135 have recovered.
Merced County reported four new cases, bringing the total up to 226. So far, six people in Merced County have died and 136 have recovered.
