For the first time in a week, Tulare County reports no new coronavirus deaths

For the first time in nearly a week, Tulare County on Thursday reported no new deaths related to the coronavirus.

In an online update, Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency said an additional 27 people have tested positive for the virus, an increase that brings the total number of cases in the county to just shy of 1,300. Fifty-four people have died of related illness so far, though the county continues to see a big increase in the number of recovered cases.

The county said 24 more people have recovered since Wednesday. In all, 342 people have now recovered after testing positive.

Around the region

The central San Joaquin Valley is reporting an average of more than 100 new coronavirus cases each day and has seen nearly 3,000 cases across the six counties. Seventy-four people have died.

Fresno County on Wednesday reported three more people had died of complications related to coronavirus. The county has 1,014 positive cases and 13 deaths, with 349 people recovered.

Kings County has 348 positive cases.as of Thursday morning. One person has died and 103 have recovered.

Mariposa County continues to report 15 cases total. All but one person has recovered.

Merced County had a total of 180 cases and four deaths with 109 recovered.

Madera County had a total of 69 cases as Wednesday. Two people have died. Five more people have recovered for a total of 45 recoveries.
