Four more people have died of coronavirus as Tulare County tops region in cases, deaths
Twenty-two people have died of coronavirus-related illness in Tulare County, according to updated statistics released by the county Health and Human Services Agency on Tuesday.
Four new deaths were reported since Monday’s update.
The county accounts for the majority of the now 35 deaths in the central San Joaquin Region. Three times more people have died in the Tulare County than in neighboring Fresno County, which has seven deaths since the outbreak began.
As of Tuesday’s update, there are 436 positive cases of the coronavirus in Tulare County, an increase of 14 cases over the prior day. Another 513 people are under self-quarantine and being monitored by health officials.
The majority of the positive cases (248) are in Visalia, where an outbreak at the Redwood Springs Healthcare Center has sickened more than 150 residents and staff and prompted visits from county and state health officials.
Around the region
Fresno County had 351 cases and seven deaths as of Monday, its most recent update. Over 100 have recovered. About 4,700 people have tested negative. Fresno County released a new dashboard Monday breaking down a number of case statistics.
Kings County had 32 positive cases, as of Tuesday morning. One person has died and five have recovered.
Merced County had 92 confirmed cases, according to an update on Tuesday. Three people have died and 28 have recovered.
Madera County had 36 cases as of Monday. Two people have died and 24 have recovered.
Mariposa County still has yet to report a confirmed coronavirus case among the 97 tests that have been taken; two result are pending.
