New Tulare County coronavirus death confirmed. Cases continue to grow in Fresno region

Another person has died in Tulare County of illness related to the coronavirus.

This is the 18th related death in the county since the outbreak began last month.

Tulare County Health and Human Services confirmed the death in its daily update on Monday. The person was over the age of 65.

There are currently 422 positive cases in Tulare County. That’s an increase of 10 cases from the day prior and the fewest number of new positive cases in a daily Tulare report in more than a week. Nearly 500 people are in self-quarantine and being monitored by county health officials. Fifty-five people have recovered.

On Friday, data from state officials revealed that Visalia’s Redwood Springs Healthcare Center has California’s largest coronavirus outbreak among residents of a skilled nursing facility. The most current number of confirmed infections among patients at the facility was 107, with 54 cases among staff.

Around the region

There are close to 900 positive cases of coronavirus in the central San Joaquin region, which includes Fresno, Merced, Madera, Kings and Tulare counties. Tulare County accounts for more than half of the region’s 31 deaths. Tulare County has had 55 coronavirus recoveries.

Fresno County had 351 cases and seven deaths as of Monday, its most recent update. Over 100 have recovered. About 4,700 people have tested negative. Fresno County released a new dashboard Monday breaking down a number of case statistics.

Kings County had 30 positive cases and one death as of Monday morning, its most recent update. One person has died and four have recovered.

Merced County had 90 confirmed cases after three more were announced Sunday. Three people have died and 28 have recovered.

Madera County had 36 cases as of Monday. Two people have died and 24 have recovered.

Mariposa County still has yet to report a confirmed coronavirus case among the 94 tests that have been taken; one result is pending.
