More covid-related deaths come out of Tulare County because of nursing home outbreak
Two more coronavirus-related deaths have occurred in Tulare County, both connected to last week’s outbreak at a nursing facility in Visalia.
The County of Tulare Public Health Branch confirmed on Wednesday night the county’s eighth and ninth deaths from COVID-19.
Both individuals, who were over 65 years old, died Tuesday.
Their deaths are tied to the outbreak at Redwood Springs, the facility that initially reported six residents and two staff members tested positive for COVID-19.
The count at the Redwood Springs facility later increased to 44 confirmed cases (25 residents, 19 staff members) of the coronavirus at the 176-bed nursing home in Visalia.
In both of Tuesday’s deaths, the individual contracted the coronavirus via person-to-person transmission, according to Tulare’s health branch.
Tulare County has 168 confirmed cases of the coronavirus based on the most recent figures that were provided Wednesday afternoon.
Among them are 53 active cases involving someone 65 or older.
