Univision Fresno, The Bee to host live Spanish language coronavirus town hall
Univision Fresno will host a live town hall moderated by Sayra Vasquez at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The stream will be live on Univision and The Fresno Bee’s facebook page.
“Over the course of the last two weeks our office, the city of Fresno has been bombarded with questions and there has been a lot of misinformation out there,” Councilwoman Esmeralda Soria said.
Fresno has a 50% Latinx population and, according to state data, about 70% are primarily Spanish speakers. Soria said reaching out to these communities was ”important, so they can get the proper information,” she said.
The panel will include leaders from Fresno Unified and Fresno State, medical professionals and city officials.
Community members can submit questions ahead of time by emailing preguntas@fresno.gov. Experts will also be answering questions live in the form of comments.
“The Latinx community in the Central Valley needs to be informed now more than ever during this time that we have all been affected,” Univision Fresno News Director Vladimir Araya said. “This opportunity with the city of Fresno and The Fresno Bee allow us to unite forces and give thousands of people the opportunity to ask questions and clear up any concerns on themes of health, education and measures that are currently in effect.”
