Madera County’s first confirmed coronavirus patient has recovered, health officials say

Madera County’s first resident who tested positive for the coronavirus has recovered and was released from isolation, Madera County Department of Public Health said.

According to Stephanie Nathan, assistant Public Health director, the patient no longer has the virus in his system and is no longer contagious. He has been released from isolation.

The patient was the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in the central San Joaquin Valley. The case was announced March 7.

This was a travel-related case. The patient and his wife recently returned to the county from a cruise.

Tulare County has one new confirmed coronavirus Saturday. It’s the county’s 12th positive case, according to the Public Health website.
