‘Higher level of risk.’ Now 7 Tulare County coronavirus cases. Unknown how 6th got virus
Two more coronavirus cases were confirmed in Tulare County on Thursday, bringing the total COVID-19 patients in that central San Joaquin Valley county up to seven.
It’s unknown how the sixth person, who is between the age of 18 and 24, contracted the virus, wrote the Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency in a news release.
The seventh is a travel case involving someone between the age of 25 and 40. Both were tested at Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia.
“Additional information regarding some of the new cases are pending completion of an investigation,” Tulare County health officials said. “Our community should understand that we are at a higher level of risk and they should take precautions wherever you go.”
On Wednesday, Tulare County announced its fifth coronavirus case – the first in that county to be described as “person-to-person” spread.
Tulare County Public Health Officer Dr. Karen Haught urged residents to do their part to help slow the spread of the virus.
“Although we are used to coming together during a crisis, for this particular health crisis we do need to stay apart to help slow the spread of this illness,” Haught said.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported around 10,500 coronavirus cases in the U.S. and 150 deaths across the country from the contagious virus, as of Thursday afternoon.
